Questions & Answers
What people usually ask before reaching out.
Getting Started
-
No, please don’t. We need to see how the space actually works day to day, because that’s where the plan comes from.
-
It’s about 20 minutes, with nothing to prepare. You tell us about the space and what you’d like to be different, and we both get a sense of whether it’s a good fit. If it is, the next step is a scoping visit.
-
It’s a free walkthrough of the space, usually a week or two before the work begins. We talk through your goals, take measurements, and look at what you already have. Afterward, you’ll get a proposal with the plan, pricing, and any product estimate.
-
It depends on the calendar. We’ll talk timing on the free call. Scoping visits usually happen a week or two before the first session.
Working Together
-
Jenny, Quell’s founder, plans and works every project. On larger jobs, she sometimes brings a second set of hands.
-
Not for all of it. We’ll walk through the plan together at the start of each session and the finished space at the end. In between, we can handle the sorting on our own. We just need you nearby for the decisions about what stays and what goes.
-
Pantries, kitchens, bathrooms, closets, mudrooms, laundry rooms, garages, basements, home offices, kids’ rooms, and whole houses.
-
It depends on the space. A pantry might be one half-day session, and a basement might take a few full days. Bigger projects are split across sessions, each ending at a natural stopping point, so you’re never left with everything on the floor.
-
We don’t offer cleaning, but we wipe down shelves and drawers before anything goes back in.
-
We don’t work in spaces with mold, pest problems, or other safety hazards. If you’re not sure whether that applies to your space, ask on the call. We’ll be straightforward with you.
-
Yes. Quell carries general liability and errors and omissions insurance. We’re happy to send a certificate of insurance if you’d like one.
-
We stand behind our work. If something falls short because of how we planned or set it up, we’ll make it right.
-
With at least 48 hours’ notice, we’ll reschedule at no charge, and your deposit carries over as long as the new date falls within 90 days. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice forfeit the deposit.
Your Things
-
No. We’ll ask questions and help you think it through, but nothing leaves your house without your say.
-
Donations go with us, up to one carload for every full day of service. Trash goes in your bins. For furniture and other large items, we can help coordinate a junk removal service or a donation pickup.
-
Yes. For items worth more than a donation, we can list them on Facebook Marketplace and similar sites, handle the buyers, and send you 50% of the sale price. Anything that hasn’t sold after 30 days goes to donation.
-
Only with your written permission. Before we start, you’ll choose exactly how photos can be used: for our records only, on social media, on the website, or in print. Anything about your home, your belongings, or your circumstances stays between us.
Pricing & Payment
-
Sessions are $325 for a half day (up to 4 hours) or $595 for a full day (up to 7 hours). Your proposal after the scoping visit will show how many sessions your project needs. See full pricing →
-
You know the cost before we start, and nobody’s watching the clock while you decide what to do with a box of old photos.
-
No. We use what you already have whenever possible. When something new makes sense, you’ll see a product budget in your proposal, paid before anything is ordered. We handle the ordering, and any unused budget is credited back on your final invoice.
-
Everything is invoiced online, and you can pay by credit card, debit card, or bank transfer. For organizing sessions, half the session fee is due when you book, and the rest is due at the end of the session. Maintenance visits are paid in full when you book them.
Downsizing &
Senior Living Moves
-
Yes, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. We help decide what comes along, pack from start to finish, and set up the new space so it feels familiar from the first day.
-
Either, or both. Sometimes it’s an adult child, and sometimes it’s a spouse, a sibling, a friend, or the person moving themselves. We also coordinate with movers and facility staff along the way.
-
